ER5356 is an aluminum-magnesium alloy (containing ~5% Mg), offering higher shear strength, better ductility, and superior corrosion resistance in marine environments. ER4043 is an aluminum-silicon alloy (containing ~5% Si), which provides better weld pool fluidity, lower cracking sensitivity, and a smoother finish, but lower tensile strength.
